About our Anesthesia

To keep things running smoothly during your surgery and to maintain the highest standards of safety, Dr. Cruise performs his surgeries at one place: Newport Beach Center for Surgery. He primarily works with two anesthesiologists, Dr. Kamali and Dr. Reines.

Michael Reines, M.D. Board Certified Anesthesiologist

Michael Reines, M.D. is a board certified anesthesiologist in Newport Beach, California. He is currently practicing outpatient anesthesia and is on the medical staff at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and multiple ambulatory surgery centers in Orange County.

Following a brief career in engineering, Dr. Reines entered medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine, in Detroit, Michigan. He was awarded the degree of Medical Doctor (M.D.) in 1990.

Dr. Reines then completed his anesthesia residency at Northwestern University, in Chicago, Illinois. Specialized training included pediatric, obstetric, neurosurgical, and cardiac and vascular anesthesia, as well as regional anesthesia techniques and chronic pain management.

At the completion of his training, Dr. Reines moved to Manistee, Michigan, where he served as the Medical Director of the anesthesia department at West Shore Medical Center from 1994-2006. He was elected Chief of Medical Staff in 1997 and 1998.

Currently, Dr. Reines specializes in providing anesthesia for ambulatory surgery, focusing on optimal post-operative pain control, with special attention on avoidance of side effects such as nausea and vomiting.

Dr. Reines' wife, Kimiko Snider, M.D., is a board certified family practitioner in Newport Beach. They have two sons, Adam and Jacob.
